how beautiful is this...

i've just discovered Manos del Uruguay! check out Ravelry for a better description of where this yarn comes from and how it's made...the colours are deep and rich...i chose jewel tones for my current project which i found in my new favourite yarn shop, Mary's in Unionville, when i was searching for new yarn for the upcoming Christmas Gift Exchange at work...
i'm testing a new-to-me pattern called My So-called Scarf also found on Ravelry, which really shows the colours of this yarn beautifully...this yarn runs thick to thin and back and is loosely plied, which means the needles split it pretty easily if you're not careful...there is also a natural halo that develops as you knit, which makes me a bit nervous about how well the finished product will stand up over time...but the feel of this yarn as it glides through your fingers is wonderful and natural and the constant change from one beautiful colour to another is mesmerizing...and perfect for this time of year!
